College Term Paper
October 19, 2007
Sometimes the old four year run can seem a bit long and tiring. Nevertheless, many of us tackle this challenge each and every fall. This is that back-to-school time when the classes begin a new. For the returning students, it’s no big deal. Pretty much like back to business as usual. Then there are the freshmen. Those newbies who have yet to be stung by a mid-term or a college term paper. Yeah, I still can recall those days quite clearly. Oh, it’s really no big deal. You’ve been through high school; therefore academics are no new thing. The only difference is the level, work load and quality expected by the professors. These things all just increased. Don’t fret over it! Simply evolve and adapt. This is the key to doing well at a four-year University. You go with the flow and keep up the best you can.
I have written so many papers in my day. Now, let’s get one thing straight. I’m not even talking about high school. I am solely addressing my four years at a University. I wouldn’t be surprised if I wrote over 50. So, are you discouraged yet? And I’m only counting the take assignments; not the in-class written essays. I had a lot of these as well by the way. Just to be clear, the classic college term paper is not that big of a deal. It’s a process like any other assignment. There are steps involved. First of all, what is your topic? Define it. Come up with a thesis statement. This should say what you’re trying to prove or state in your college term paper. It lets the reader know where you’re going with the piece. Then it’s time for an outline. How can you break your college term paper down? You know that you begin with an introductory paragraph; then it should have at least three points; these points should support your thesis. You may even want to put in a rebuttal paragraph. One that goes against your argument. Then you can come back with your final point and state how you truly feel. At last there is a conclusion. This is like a recap. It should also restate what your thesis is and why it’s valid. That’s a basic college term paper rundown.
