You can tell a lot about people by the little things that they do. One such way to tell a lot about someone is to hear what they have for answering machine messages. Though there are many, like me, who have generic ones for business purposes, there are some that have a lot of fun with them. Before I had to have a generic message, I loved to have fun with the people who were calling me. It started in college with my roommate, and I learned that you could do almost anything you want with an answering machine.
One of the first answering machine messages we had was a song. It was simple and too the point, but I soon found that there were a lot of people using this song. I didn’t want to be like everyone else, so we had to think of something fun to do. Though it took a lot of experimenting, we came up with one of my most favorite answering machine messages I have ever had. We said “hello” on the machine as if someone where answering, paused for the person to speak, and then added, “hang on a moment” after that. Many people called and thought they were talking to a real person. It was great fun, but only worked for a short time.
If you want fun answering machine messages, you can come up with something on your own like we did. You have to use your imagination, but for some people that is not a problem at all. You can have fun with people via your answering machine messages if you want to. If you have a business line, I wouldn’t advise anything too crazy, but you can still do a little something different if you really want to. I choose not to do it now, but that is because of the nature of what I do for a living.
You can also find great answering machine messages online, and many of them are very funny and very original. You can find one that is tailored to your personality if you take some time to look through the ones that are listed. The best answering machine messages are going to be the ones you think up though, and you have all the time in the world to come up with a good one. Just remember that these do get old fast, even if they are hysterically funny at first. Make sure you come up with something new every month or so, depending on how many phone calls you get.
